quick start guide

cut'n'paste any text you like (up to 5,000 characters) into the BIG box above, set your options, and click the wrangle button. Here's what the options do:-

paraphrase% is the percentage of the original text you want returning. So, for example, if you set it to 30, the system will only return about a third of the original article. It defaults to 100%. The system paraphrases in one of two ways, that you can select from the drop down list, i.e.

by relevance / by random sentence (drop down list) allows you to set how the paraphrasing is accomplished. By relevance means that the system will analyze the text and try to extract the most important x% for you. By random sentence means the system will include or drop each sentence randomly, to try and return a random amount of text roughly equivalent to the paraphrasing percentage you specified. This will result in a more 'different' piece of text, at the expense of textual cohesion. You don't HAVE to paraphrase, but it can be a very easy way to get more 'uniqueness' from your text.

obfuscate means apply automatic content re-writing. This is 'on' by default.

preserve links means attempt to keep embedded HREFs intact. Use this if you have embedded links in your text that you don't want to lose. Some links (for example, badly formed URLs) won't be preserved. Also, if you paraphrase, links may be lost.

reserved words are words or phrases you DON'T want replaced (separate them with commas). E.g. if you want to keep a bunch of financial words in the article, you'd enter something like credit cards, mortgages, loan rate, credit consolidation etc. Don't put spaces between the words, use commas. Reserved words are case-sensitive, so fish is not the same as Fish which is not the same as FISH .

things to note

the system works on a sentence-by-sentence basis. It identifies sentences as best it can, but if you wrangle text with lots of carriage returns or '<br>' HTML codes in it, the wrangler will interpret the carriage returns as end of sentences, so the results might seem strange. For example, if you wrangle this:-

This sentence has
lots of line breaks at
strange position which mean
the results will be
unpredictable.

the system will interpret it as:-

This sentence has. lots of line breaks at. strange positions which mean. the results will be. unpredictable.

Remember - garbage in, garbage out. Make sure the text you are trying to wrangle is properly formatted.
